Malacara B’s location on the northern slopes of the Santa Ana volcano is ideal for producing coffees of outstanding quality. The Funes-Dumont family has been growing coffees at this farm for 100 years through 5 generations. They currently grow several coffee varieties including Bourbon, Pacamara and Geisha. We habe a limited amount of this unique orange bourbon available.

The history of Malacara dates back to 1888, when Don Rafael Álvarez Lalinde inherited the property. Don Rafael Álvarez Lalinde, great-grandfather of current owner Claude Dumont Álvarez, was transcendental for the coffee industry since "he introduced in El Salvador the technology that allowed processing and exporting washed coffees" (Mauricio Alvarez GeoDroy, 2010).

Don Rafael’s son Samuel Álvarez, began cultivating coffee at Malacara in 1925, transforming Malacara into one of the largest farms in the region. Originally called Medellin, the farm acquired its peculiar name Malacara, or Bad Face, from a legendary character in the area with the same nickname. In 1995, the property was divided into three lots called "A," "B," and "C" between Samuel's children. Malacara B has obtained multiple awards and has been classified among the 20 best coffees of El Salvador on five occasions.

"At Malacara B, we grow more than just coffee, we grow communities." Through educational programs, health services, and recreational activities, The Funes-Dumont family seeks to improve the worker's and neighbors' quality of life. Additionally, they are aware of their responsibility as stewards to the environment. From reducing chemicals in the processes to soil conservation and responsible water management, they strive to protect and preserve their natural environment for the next generations.
