Description

María Elena Vides, Producer
Bourbon and Caturra grown at 1550 masl.

This Rainforest Alliance certified selection is from El Cabro lot. Patio dried for 12 days.

Dr. Jorge Vides Molina founded La Bolsa in 1958 high up in the mountains of Huehuetenango. He was such an outstanding member of the local community that the hospital in the city of Huehuetenango bears his name. Today, his daughter Maria Elena and grandson Renardo manage the farm. Thanks to their tireless dedication, La Bolsa has gained acclaim through Cup of Excellence, Rainforest Alliance, and the International Women's Coffee Alliance.

Water recycling and vermiculture composting are a large part of the farm's success. A greenhouse with raised drying beds is also available for special lots that demand more drying control than the patio. La Bolsa has an excellent reputation among coffee pickers, and some have been working there for over 25 years. Benefits for pickers include housing on-site and classes at the farm for their children to develop both practical and creative skills.
