Description
Mariano Mejía, Producer
Pacas and Catuaí grown at 1400-1600 masl.
The village of San Luis Planes is situated along a small stretch of mountain road in Santa Bárbara, Honduras. Comprised of a few hundred households, a police station, church, clinic, and school, one could easily pass through without knowing how much amazing coffee is grown here.
Mariano Mejia and his family live right off of this tiny road and they wash and dry coffee outside of their home in their own wet mill and on parabolic drying beds. Coffee is then delivered to Beneficio San Vicente for dry milling, quality analysis, and export.
Copo Mico suffered much loss due to leaf rust over the years, but Mariano has overcome the challenges through persistence, dedication and re-investment in his farm and mill.
The unexpected and unique cup is a product of Mariano's hard work and the wild landscape of Copo Mico where monkeys, birds, plantain, corn, cabbage and coffee thrive side-by-side.
