...And for supporting an independently-owned and managed company. We founded Café Grumpy in 2005 with the dream of serving great tasting specialty coffee to everyone in a welcoming environment. Since the beginning days of working behind the bar at our first location in Greenpoint to present day where we have grown to eleven locations; we have always been hands-on and devoted to making this company the best it can be.
We have been sourcing and roasting our coffee in house since 2009 and are proud of the relationships we have built with our producing partners at origin through transparency and respect. We are certified as a Women-Owned Business Enterprise by NYC and we continue to look for ways to improve our business model with a focus on community, sustainability and social responsibility.
It is not without daily challenges and frustrations that most small businesses function, but we are lucky to have had the support of dedicated baristas and team-members, great customers, friends and family along the way.
Our goal is to share our coffee with as many people as we can and make sure that if you come in grumpy, you leave happy!
