Familia Dumont, Producer
Yellow Bourbon. Grown at 1500 masl.

Malacara B's location on the slopes of the Santa Ana volcano is ideal for producing coffees of outstanding quality. The Dumont family grows red, yellow, orange and even pink bourbon here.

The history of Malacara dates back to 1888, when Don Rafael Alvarez Lalinde inherited the property from the wife of his late brother Francisco Lalinde. Don Rafael and his thirteenth son Samuel began cultivating coffee in 1925. Malacara quickly became known as one of the largest farms in the region.

Originally called Medellin, the farm acquired its peculiar name Malacara, or Bad Face, from a legendary character in the area with the same nickname. In 1995, it was divided into three lots called "A," "B," and "C" between Samuel's children.

Malacara B is full of beautiful indigenous plants and shade trees, and bourbon trees that have been maintained for as many as 80 years with the traditional agobio branch bending technique. The farm has several on-site facilities including a kitchen, a school, a playground, and a health clinic. The Dumont family makes it part of their mission to support the health and well-being of the people that work on the farm as well as the surrounding community.
