This is the third year that we have been working with Luis Joaquín Lovo and are once again, excited to share Santa Teresa with you.

The coffee scene is changing quickly in Nicaragua, and coffee producer Luis Joaquín Lovo is certainly a part of that change. He manages his own farm, Santa Teresa, along with his brother’s and father’s farms which have placed in multiple Cup of Excellence competitions. The family owns a dry mill, which is quite rare for even a medium-sized farm of about 30 acres, and this affords Luis an unusual degree of control over the finished product.

Santa Teresa continues to impress us each year.  There is a wonderful and mysterious persistence to this coffee, a quality that lingers on the palate well after the first sip.  The body is buttery and sweet, like toffee, with lovely melon and mandarin orange fruit notes sparkling above. A delightful and intriguing cup from Nicaragua! Don’t miss it.
